Ukrainian military personnel will arrive in Spain this week for basic training and HAWK air defense training.
It is reported by CNN.
Spain will receive 225 Ukrainian troops at the country’s air force base near Madrid. The Spanish Ministry of Defense specified that 20 of them will be trained to operate the HAWK air defense system to repel air attacks.
The rest of the military, civilian Ukrainians, that is, those who have no previous military experience, will undergo basic training. It will include training in the treatment of the wounded in combat and an algorithm for actions against improvised explosive devices.
“This is already the second group of Ukrainian servicemen who arrived in Spain for training, after 64 servicemen who arrived in November and December,” the report says.
The exercises are taking place in Toledo and are part of the European Union’s military mission to assist Ukraine.
“The training is being carried out according to a program developed for 400 Ukrainian servicemen who rotate every two months,” the ministry said.
In addition, the Ministry of Defense reported that Spain is sending six HAWK air defense units to Ukraine.
